Discussion

This sub-rtectangular spit was excavated to define a series of amorphous features located on the chalk at the western edge of the dry valley. It defined three (012AD05210, 012AD05214 and 012AD05240) quarry pits, which were part of a group of quarry pits located along this chalk edge. The material removed was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3).
